Recovery is more than just overcoming challenges—it’s about rediscovering joy, building self-worth, and creating a life full of purpose, connection, and possibility. At The Living Recovery Foundation, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing incredible journeys unfold—stories of mutual support, shared strength, and small victories that lead to lasting transformation.
From outdoor adventures that reconnect people with nature, to workshops that build confidence and self-reliance, and community moments filled with laughter, teamwork, and new beginnings—these are the stories that remind us why we do what we do.
Here are a few inspiring examples of the resilience, courage, and growth that happen when people come together in recovery.
Ged Potter
Mayor of Derby 2024-2025

There can be no greater positive to a person than for a mentor to say “I have been where you are, I understand what you are going through and I am here for you”.
Yes, its “tough love” at times, but there is a clear “Band of Brothers” comradery which gives people hope and desire to get their life back on track.
Jericho House may be viewed as being “outside the box” by some, but its success rates are far more impressive than those who operate “inside the box”. Well done to you “Band of Brothers”, I am so very proud of you all.
Theresa Peltier
Deputy Lieutenant
Former High Sheriff of Derbyshire 2023-2024

Jericho House has a unique ability in making everyone feel they belong and are part of a family…..there is a genuine commitment from their service users to overcome their addiction, repair relationships with loved ones, and work towards a life of stability, acceptance of self and fulfilment.
The support and encouragement they provide to each other is quite rare. The impact they have on the Derbyshire community and me personally was such that I recognised their work by presenting them with a High Sheriffs Award
